Preah Vihear Province, Cambodia — Cambodian monks and local residents were forced to evacuate from high-risk areas along the Cambodia Thailand border after Thai military forces reportedly launched multiple rounds of shelling into Cambodian territory. The emergency evacuation was conducted to ensure the safety of civilians and religious communities affected by the escalating border tension.

According to a statement released by the Preah Vihear Provincial Information Department, Thai forces began firing on Cambodian military positions on the afternoon of December 7, 2025, and continued into the morning of December 8, 2025. The report indicates that despite existing agreements, the Thai military violated the ceasefire and the joint peace declaration established between the two nations.

Throughout the incident, Cambodian armed forces maintained a high level of restraint, adhering strictly to peace protocols and efforts to prevent further escalation along the border.
